Painted Hills; one of Andy’s Favorite Oregon Wedding Spots

If you can look past the uncombed brows to the beyond you will see one of my favorite Oregon wedding spots. This is the painted hills, and it’s no wonder that an artist, a painter who works in watercolor wet into wet and oils in a modern post-impressionism of explosive strong colors would be drawn here where geological shifts that occurred millions of years ago would create a kind of painted landscape.

Head east from Portland through deep evergreen and white capped wilderness and enter the vast expanse of high desert country. You will eventually come to lodge up in a wood-heated bunkhouse in Mitchell and whisper after Patty’s ghost before embarking on a twenty foot stroll to a tiny parlor with the friendliest service and the tangiest pints and wings. Fill your belly with rich local glistening goodness, stock up on breakfast supplies to prep your meal in the lodge kitchen, and head to the hills where you’ll be met with amber, orange, ochre, and all kinds of other colors I won’t bore you with in the artistic lexicon. Just a little but hearty nod to this Oregon wedding spot for a live wedding painting setting.
