A Live Event Painting Story: The Perfect Anniversary Gift

My husband and I met my friend Brittany when she taught a couple’s yoga class on Valentines day just after we were married. When Brittany got married herself, I was not able to attend the event, but I was honored to be able to make this 20x24 watercolor painting as an anniversary gift for the young couple. Brittany has helped our family in many ways over the years and the photos they sent me of their pre-wedding “engagement session” inspired this piece which now decorates her new home.

I don’t usually work directly from photographs, but this one struck me as so sweet. I wanted to convey the romantic, dreamy, Midsummer Night’s Dream quality of the forest while faithfully capture the intensity of the lovers’ gazes.
